RAtes and pricing

My minimum is $125.

I price by piece for small to medium, single session projects.

I charge an hourly rate of $125/hour for larger, multi session projects such as full sleeve, back piece, etc.

I offer full/half day rates as well. Full day rate is $900 and half day rate is $500. The half day rate covers a maximum 5 hour session, includes stenciling, set up, and tattoo time. The full day rate covers a maximum 8 hour session, includes stenciling, set up, and tattoo time.

A price estimate will be given to you at the time of booking but that is subject to change depending on final size/placement/detail/time, etc. Please let me know if you have a budget you want to stay in. I’m always happy to work within your budget to make your tattoo dreams possible!

FAQs

do you tattoo minors?

No, I do not tattoo minors. You must be at least 18 years old to get tattooed by me.

do you take walk-ins?

Yes, I do! Feel free to call or stop by Horse Shoe Tattoo and see if someone is available for your tattoo. Keep in mind that I typically operate by appointment only, so walk-ins are by chance. I will post on Facebook and Instagram if I have walk-in availability.

do you offer numbing?

I do not offer numbing cream. I do use lidocaine numbing spray, however this product only works after the skin is broken.

You are welcome to purchase your own numbing product to use during the session. Please let me know if you want to use numbing cream as it does need to sit for 60+ minutes on the skin BEFORE tattooing. I recommend Painless Tattoo Cream; you can purchase their product from the link below. Use code BLACKSWANN for 10% off your purchase.

Do I Have to tip?

Tipping makes your tattoo hurt less!  Just kidding, but it is a great way to let your artist know that you love the tattoo! As in many other service industries, it is customary to tip your artist. I don’t require a tip however they are always appreciated. Also tips don’t have to be monetary! I always appreciate a coffee or snack or something cool to add to my studio walls/shelves!

Do you sell gift cards?

I do not currently sell gift cards.

Gift cards purchased in 2023 are still valid, however they expire one year after date of purchase.

How far out do you book? Can I have a weekend appointment?

I book up to 60 days in advance (bookings more than 30 days in advance are subject to change, if a change is needed you will be informed at least 2 weeks in advance).

Weekend and evening availability is very limited and is always the first to go. I do not work on Sundays.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, card, and Venmo. All transactions are subject to a 6% KY sales tax. Card and Venmo transactions will be subject to a card processing fee.

what is your style? do you do cover ups?

I work in a variety of styles in both black and grey and color! I do both large and small pieces. My favorite styles to work in are American traditional, neo-traditional, and mixed media/pop art. May favorite subjects to tattoo are pet portraits and animals. I encourage you to check out my portfolio on Instagram to see if my style of work lends itself to the design you are wanting. If you need inspiration, I have a ‘Wanna-do’ list on the home page of this website that list some subjects and styles that I wanna work on! I take cover up projects on a case by case basis.

Can i see my design? what is the design process?

I do not show designs prior to the appointment, this is to prevent theft of my artwork. I will show you the design and go over any design options at your appointment time. If I have questions during the drawing process, I will absolutely reach out for clarity. Hand drawn tattoos are done on-site, the day-of. This does take extra time, however it is a time-honored tradition and an amazing process that works better for some tattoos. Regardless of stenciling technique, you will see and approve all designs before tattooing.

Please communicate any major desired concept additions or changes at least 48 hours in advance; Do not wait until you come in. I schedule your appointment length based on what you’re getting so that may change if you change your design. If changes are needed and I am not notified in advance, for time purposes your appointment may need to be rescheduled in order to make those changes, and an additional drawing fee will be applied based on scale.

I booked a session, when will it get accepted?

I typically respond within 1-3 business days. I will reach out to you if I have any questions regarding your submission My office hours are Tuesday-Saturday 8am-5pm, this is when I check emails and social media messages. If you do not hear back from me within that time frame, please send a follow up email or send me a message on social media. Your patience is appreciated as I work long hours, in gloves away from the phone and the computer.

where are you located?

I am located inside Horse Shoe Tattoo at 357 Southland Drive Lexington, KY 40503.

Can I come talk to you about my tattoo idea?

Yes, feel free to stop by or call Horse Shoe Tattoo to see me or another artist is available for a consult. Keep in mind that I operate by appointment only and am typically only in the studio when I have scheduled clients, which also means you may have to wait for me to get to a stopping point if I’m tattooing before I can talk with you.

However, I always prefer that you book a consult. Consultations can also be scheduled with me or online and do not require a deposit.
